Social networking and its impacts

(This was an article I wrote for the magazine which students wanted to publish to all the campuses of our college in india .)

I was just thinking a topic for the magazine but this one strikes me very strongly because this is one thing youngsters are addicted to .Taught it will be nice if I describe its impact. Social Media is a very vast term. It is about communication, collaboration, multimedia, reviews and sharing interesting online content with friends, family and complete strangers.

Blogs, Internet Forums, Pod casts, picture sharing, and video sharing and instant messaging are just some of the tools that people use to interact on the internet, or you can say these are the things which keep visitors loyal to the website.

For example if you come across any interesting content on social media websites, you think of sharing it with friends, family and colleagues. This content might be further shared, creating a viral effect and helping to increase the popularity of that piece of content. It could also assist in generating back links to the website. This can give a boost to the search engine optimization of a website and might also raise brand awareness.

Social Media in the past few years has emerged massively there impact is on both businesses and general internet users. Companies have started integrating Social Media strategies (new media) as part of their online marketing mix. Companies are working on blogs, micro-blogs, social networking websites and all other relevant methods to reach out to users and customers to keep them updated.

Bad news travels fast, our elders use to say, so more and more companies are adopting this strategy and making sure that they have a specific department setup for online reputation management. There are even companies who are full time in to this online marketing.

The impact on general users is quite phenomenal. Most internet users are linked to some kind of social networking websites. Which allows them to share communicates chat and makes their careers too. To explain simple in this generation internet love and marriages are increasing this is the extent social networking websites and impacted.
